Robert “Wayne” Carter, age 73, passed away on June 28, 2025, in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Wayne was the eldest of seven children born to Phyllis Jean Carter (née Phillips) and Robert Carter. A talented athlete in his youth, he once aspired to attend art college. However, following a severe traumatic head injury sustained during a football game, his fine motor skills were compromised, making painting and drawing difficult. During his recovery, Wayne grew closer to the Lord, profoundly inspired by his grandmother, Dora Alpha Phillips (née Ballinger). This spiritual awakening led him to pursue Bible College, setting the course for a lifetime of faith and ministry. Wayne devoted himself to serving the Lord and spent many years leading others to the Christian faith, leaving an enduring impact on countless lives. In 1993, Wayne met his beloved wife, Floretta Sue Napier, with whom he was inseparable for more than 32 years. Outside of his ministry and study of the Bible, Wayne could often be found lifting weights, riding his bicycle, going for long walks, or enjoying precious time with his family. He had a true servant’s heart, always eager to help those around him. His ever-present smile was a blessing he freely offered to both friends and strangers alike. Wayne’s kindness, faith, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Floretta Sue Carter; daughters Jessica Carter (and grandsons Zachary and Elijah Carter), and Rebecca Powers (née Singh) and her husband Donald Powers (and granddaughters Abigail Marie and Samara Singh Powers). He is also survived by his siblings Janet Marie Carter, Douglas Richard Carter (Colleen Carter), Donna Gayle Carter, Debra Carol Miller (née Carter) (Stan Miller), Susan Diane Burchell (née Carter) (Michael Burchell), and David Michael Carter (Denise Carter); and nieces and nephews, including Brittney Perkins (née Carter), Douglas Carter, James Burchell. Viewing will be held at Advantage Cremation Care of Greater Cincinnati on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at 129 N. Riverside Dr., Loveland, OH 45140.
