Obituary for Robert Frank Pollick

Robert “Bob” Frank Pollick, 76, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on July 19, 2022. Bob, born and raised in East Cleveland, Ohio, graduated from Benedictine High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1965 and over the next 24 years rose from Airman to Captain while earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University. His final assignment in uniform was at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where he retired from active duty in 1989. In late 1989, Bob began his civilian career at Wright-Patterson, where he worked until his passing.

During his 33 years as a civilian with the Air Force Research Labs (AFRL), Bob’s brilliance, creativity, and tenacity were known to all who came in contact with him. His contrariness and unconventional thinking made him the go-to guy for playing the opponent, “Red Team Leader,” in war gaming operations, an assignment he loved. A respected Senior System Engineer, Bob did everything with gusto, applying intelligence, energy, and joy.

Bob was a champion bowler, but in the last 20 years golf became his favorite leisure pastime. He and his wife, Leslie, loved being the first tee time of the day. Bob played 18 holes of golf the last day of his conscious life. As an active member of the Association of Old Crows since 1977, Bob’s passion was to support the AOC Scholarship Fund. He was so committed to this program that his will awards $25,000 to the Fund. Bob gave back to the community through 25 years of involvement with the WPTD Public TV Auction, even drafting friends and family to work along side him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Agnes Pollack; his sister, Joyce Pollack; and his beloved son, Robert “Bobby” Pollick. Bob is survived by his wife, Leslie of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter, Carrie Pollick and her partner Jason Trubee of Waynesville, Ohio; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Trish Harris and husband Bill of Cincinnati, Ohio; his brother, Frank Pollack and wife Flo of North Carolina; his sister, Kathy Cocuzzi and husband David of Columbus, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bob chose to be cremated. In lieu of a funeral, the family has chosen to have a Celebration of Life on August 6. Family, close friends, and colleagues will receive electric invitations in the near future.
