Obituary for Eugene William Fischer Sr.

Eugene William Fischer Senior, age 82, known to his friends and family as Gene, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday October 28, 2019. He was a loving and devoted man to his family and friends.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Elaine (nee Vogel); his children Gene Fischer (Gretchen Miller), Rose Zix (Denise Dickhaus), Elizabeth Wall (Arthur Wall III), Tom Fischer (Julie Hewitt); his grandchildren Kyland Fischer, Nicole Wall (Everth Hernandez Argueta), Thomas Fischer II, Colton Fischer, Jessica Wall, Connor Fischer, Brittany Wall, Dayle Fischer, Alexander Wall; great grandchildren Kellen Fischer and Everth Omar Hernandez Wall; sister Evelyn Nielsen, niece Rebecca Bastian (Jeff Bastian), great niece Madelyn Bastian, great nephew Brandon Bastian, and many other dear in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Gene was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 24, 1936 to Elmer and Eleanor Fischer (nee Tabe). He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Accounting. He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. After his honorable service he worked for many years as an Internal Auditor. He married his soul mate Elaine on August 11, 1962. Their love of travel had them moving to Florida and North Carolina until they retired in Cincinnati, Ohio. Family was everything to Gene. He loved sports and was his children’s coach in baseball, softball, bowling, soccer and golf.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, his in-laws Dan and Rose Vogel (nee Thiess), his brother in-law Dennis Nielsen, his nephew Kevin Nielsen, and his granddaughter Alysha Owens-Fischer.

Private family services were held to celebrate Gene’s life. Donations may be made to Gene’s favorite charity Neediest Kids of All, PO Box 636666, Cincinnati, Ohio 45263-6666. In addition, the Eugene W. Fischer Sr. Memorial Fund has been established to help with medical/funeral expenses. Donations may be made in Gene’s name through any PNC Bank.
