Obituary for Ronald White Funston

FUNSTON, Ronald W. age 80, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019. He passed surrounded by his family, at Hospice of Cincinnati after a long battle with COPD.

Mr. Funston is survived by his wife of 60 years, JoAnn (Uphus), five daughters: Rhonda Lynn Frank of Nicholson, PA; Deborah Sue Mason of Pensacola, FL; Shelly Rae Funston of Alexandria, KY; Pamela Kay Curtis of Amelia, OH and Clara Elizabeth England of Florence, KY. He also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his mother Mabel Elizabeth (Kountz) Funston as well as a brother and sister.

Ronald is a veteran, having served his country in the United States Navy. He was a very hard worker, spending most of his career as a construction contractor. He was an avid and skillful golfer, having achieved several holes in one. He grew up in Ft. Thomas, KY and had a life-long passion for everything Highlands Bluebirds. Even after his retirement in Florida he listened faithfully on Friday nights to Highlands football games on the radio and internet.

Memorial Services will be held at Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, KY on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 11AM. Following the service, his remains will be entombed in a cremation niche at Highland Cemetery.
