Obituary for Raymond Arnold Edmondson Jr.

Raymond “Arnold” Edmondson Jr., 63, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 9:16am on Friday, July 19, 2019, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY. Arnold’s memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 27th at James Island Baptist Church (The Church at Riverland Terrace) in Charleston, SC. Dress will be casual.

Arnold was born on December 29, 1955 in Charleston to Alice Rae (Southwell) Edmondson and Raymond Arnold Edmondson Sr. He resided for many years in coastal South Carolina, as well as Kentucky and New Orleans. A prolific and primarily self-taught artist, Arnold was gifted with a passion and talent for creativity. Arnold also had a passion for cooking, music, and nature. A truly unique man, he was full of compassion, wit, and an immense love of God until his last days.

Arnold is survived by his four children: Rachel Simone Edmondson of Sicklerville, NJ, Naomi Simone Edmondson of Morehead City, NC, Jacob McKelvin Edmondson of Charleston, SC, and Bradley Joseph Allen of HI; one grandchild: Bohdi Allen; one brother: Timothy Allan Edmondson of Florence, KY; a nephew: Landen Jeffery Edmondson of Leitchfield, KY; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Arnold is preceded in death by his father: Raymond Arnold Edmondson Sr., his mother: Alice Rae (Southwell) Edmondson, two aunts: Linda (Wilkerson) Williams and Patty Jo (Wilkerson) Avant; an uncle: Carl Erckman Southwell Jr., and his grandparents: Carl Erckman Southwell and Nellie Rae (Owens) Wilkerson, and Joseph Andrew and Octavia (Ulmer) Edmondson.
